Many boaters use power- loading to retrieve their boats ,and I was hoping to use that method if I am fortunate enough to get a larger boat.
But is power-loading going to lead to that much damage to facilities that is is prohibited ,as it is allready in some states of USA.

Whether or not,the item below may help those loading single-handed.

We used to have a 660 Whittley 25' long and from day one every time it was retrieved it did so under its own power.
It's dead easy and realy satisfying to be able to "easy load" after an outing.
I don't know what goes on with the American ramps as dipicted in the links, but if you have a look around Oz there are very few ramps that stop just at the back of where you are retrieving your boat. My point being that its normally concrete for a considerable distance astern which in itself makes it near impossible to disturb the environment behind the thrust of your prop.
It's no problem to retrieve under power without damage as long as you are constantly figilant re the leg position when preparing to do so. The leg must be tilted to a point above the half way down point or else you will engage it or worse the prop on the bottom ... i.e the concrete of the ramp.
I used to prep by staying away from the ramp a little, tilt the leg up until you find a point where the boat is not too responsive. Then drop the leg back down just a little as you may still need responsive directional control and or reverse thrust should you be slightly off the mark for the power retrieval and bobs your uncle, no probs!
If the retrieval is done in this manner the leg is thrusting in the upward direction, forcing the bum down and the nose up ... can't possibly upset the aquaculture and the whole process goes smoothly and everyone happy.
Thats my two bobs worth anyhow ... ;D ;D ;D ... have a good weekend

Hi Greg,
Thanks.
Keeping the leg up seems the way to go then.
Hope I get to try it one day.
