Suzuki's are good motors.
keep em flushed out after use, and wash em down with detergent to get the salt off.
Keep the fuel lines and carby's wet with fuel when not in use by squeezing the fuel bulb every few days.

And she will last years and years.

Gday DTHCoCo,

I picked up my new boat about 3 weeks ago, (Brooker 4.1 Safari) which has the 40 Suzi Stroke on the back. So far i have not had any dramas at all ( to be expected i guess after less than a month).

I cannot fault the engine at all, just purrs along perfectly, especially since the run in period is now over and i have been able to reduce the fuel oil mix. It was rather smoky for the first few tanks.

Great engine, and hope it continues to be.

G'day DTHcoco,
I've had a suzi 40 2 stroke for about a year now. Have had no problems, starts as soon as I turn the key, purrs along, heaps of power.

Keep in mind though it is a large bore 2 cylinder motor so idling vibration is reasonably high. The 3 cyl 2 strokes area bit better but it's whatever you prefer and are prepared to pay. Once you bring up the revs they are all the same. It doesn't bother me as I have a electric motor that I use for trolling / luring etc, so I don't do much DST with the motor.

Look at your fishing / boating situation, what do you want to do with the motor, do you want to troll for long periods, is it just to go from A to B? Also what is your budget?

Personally I am happy with the motor as it fits my situation, it's reliable and it is also very simple so that means very little to go wrong and usually I can chase down the problem myself if one ever happens.

cheers, Evan
