Hey guys ..

I'm in the middle of the refit for Fatenhappy and among other things am looking seriously at revamping the hydraulic steering (more because of age to prevent failure)

Traditionally I have gone with Hy Drive systems and had no problem....

Does anyone have the good oil on specific hydraulic steering units.

Cheers
Greg

they all seem to be much of a muchness, is your old steering OK?? they do not seem to wear out, so maybe it may be just as easy to keep what you have, check all the lines, maybe even renew the Oil and leave it be!

Greg,

I have trialed many units and without a doubt the most robust setup we found was a seastar 1.7 Helm and a Hynautic K6 Ram We use this setup at Sea World with many thousands of hours of trouble free work. The 1.7 helm coupled with the ram and using seastar Pro hoses gives minimal resistance steering.

Once you aee a K6 ram you will understand the simplicity of the design to be a key factor.
