Sounds good to me. I use a Torium 20, 50lb braid and a 20kg live fibre rod.
Lightness is important to me too.

Torium 20 nice speedy retrieval, especially when in deep water and you get baited. But then ask me next week, my new torsa 20 turns up tomorrow and will be puting it through its paces on friday;D

I love my old Diawa Sealines.
Solid and dependable, straightforward to service, a pleasure to use.
I own several, 2 x gold 400s, 1 gold 300, 1 old 250 (my fave), a 47SH and a 27 SH.
All bought 2nd hand courteousy of Ebay, and 'renovated'. Cheap, reliable and great fun to own!
Cheers.

Iused to have a 30 back in about 1985? A bit bigger than a 7000 ABU as I can remember.Very tough little reel, gave it to my brother who still uses it.
They remind me a bit of Penn reels.Did they have a one piece aluminium frame?

Hi Reggy.
No mate, the 400s and the 300 are late 70's, gold in colour and have ali side plates and chromed brass posts, rather than one-piece frames like the later Sealines.
Huge gears, and the drag on the 400 is accessable without dismantling the 'gearbox', just like on the old Penn Senators.
Cheers.

Go the Sealine, but we only use 600s in my boat, we never fish less than 60 mtrs, more often 100, on a good day anywhere from 240 to 350. The Sealines have proved themselves many many times, where other fall by the wayside.

Just my opinion,

Thanks for the pics mate. I`ve never seen those gold models before.
Must be great to pull these things apart and see what`s inside, something I do whenever I get a new reel.
Heavy Penn influence there.
Nice collection.;)

Thanks Reggy.
Yeah, I absolutely love opening them up and cleaning, tweaking, etc.
The Penn influence on the cosmetic design is readily apparent, tho' inside these are far stronger than the Senators, s/s gears, anti-reverse etc. Great value the old Sealines, I believe these were priced to compete with the Penn Senator range rather than the up-market Internationals.
Had to give up the reel buying (for a while at least;) )to maintain domestic harmony:'( ::) , fair enough tho' I've pert near got enough of 'em to last me, my son and grandsons our lifetimes!;D
Cheers!
