I currently have an ICOM-M45 which I think is the older verson of the M302/304. It works a treat, very had any problems.

In my previous boat I had an Oregon TM-388 which only cost me about $150 from Whitworths. Similarly performed flawlessly and for the price which included having DSC it was a bargain. Just before we sold the boat I did a radio check while parked in the driveway. I was getting through 5 by 4 to the sea rescue some 20km away which I thought very good considering it was all land between us.
