in car navigators - theft of, windscreen circles

Poodroo's bad experience related in lost and stolen section reminded me of Father in Law's advice, well, one of many really.

No point hiding in car navigator, or removing same, if there is a tell tale circle on the windscreen where the mounting bracket was.

Dead right. Some of them though you can get vent mounts and use a discrete and separate aerial to minimize the risks.
I have been warned about the telltale suction rings left on the windscreen as well and unfortunately it does make sense that our cars could be targeted because of them. The thieving mongrels need a good slapping.
