I would just like to know what would be and ideal sounder that would suit a 15 yearolds dinghy and budget. thanks

I have a Humminbird matrix 17 which is quite good IMO for the $$
Depends if he wants so soo structure, fish etc, or just the depth.

What is a 15yr old's budget nowadays anyway? When I was 15 the only depth guage I could afford was a long stick...

I would be looking at the Cuda sounders in BigW and other department stores. They are around the 200ish and leave you 400ish for a motor.

Garmin ff140 fish finder. Its b&w but works well and is accurate. good value at around $220.

Have you tried to fix your existing sounder? Should be possible to patch in new wire to replace whatever's been chewed.

I just had one of those hah, but my dog chewed all the cords so i only have the screen of it now:-[

Pretty much impossible as the sonar that sends out the signals is chewed. wish i could but i tihnk im going to have to buy a whole new kit

Might be worth contacting garmin directly to see if they can help, they may be able to tell you if a current model transducer will work with it.
