Saw this yesterday out near the 4 beacons, Anyone know it does? looks like some type of pump.

didnt have much in the way of free board, and pushed a 2 metre bow wave.

jeeze great photo, i would love to know what this ship is to but unfortunantly have no idea, did it have any name on the side, maybe if you knew that you could try to google it, my best guess would be the japenese whaling ship:D

It looks to have containers onboard. Maybe a fully laden container ship?

i think its the submergable boat transporter doing a return journey with containers on it.

think fish guts is on the money.
Its a semi-submersible boat/yacht carrier .They float the boats on and off.

Only had one container on it but a long pipe in the centre, I did a search and it appears to be a dredge.

The Van Ord Dredge Volvox Asia will carry out capital dredging and maintenance dredging works for the Port Corporation of Queensland in Weipa with the project commencing towards the end of May 2006 and the crew change and mobilisation taking place in Hong Kong with a final date to be advised. The contract is to dredge 3 million m3 . The Volvox Asia has hopper capacity of 10,834 m3 and will be assisted by the water injection Dredge Sagar Manthan and another small craft.

Zoomed the photo to get a better look.

Mate,

it looked a lot worse than it was we had a soueaster, went up to curtain artificial for a fish so the wind was with us on the way up. While we fished, a storm came through and flattend it all out for the trip home, (Was really running in the new motor need some hours), coming back we sat in behind a container ship which flattened the sea like you wouldnt belive as per attached photo.

As for the fishing, wasnt that great and I got completely outgunned by something that reefed me.

I have a yalta 555HC, 18 foot fibreglass.

I saw it in the river the last weekend.

Was moored just upstream from Pinenkba ramp on southside.

It had a huge hose connected to the raised orange section at the bow.

Looks like some flash technology!

Cheers

I was down the southside of Brissy River on Thursday as they were pumping sand onto the mudflats at Lytton, I would assume from that the vessel is presently dredging the Main Shipping Channel from the Spitfire to Lytton Bypass Channel.

Its no wonder that container ships loose containers in rough seas when they are stacked so high
