When i bought my boat it came with a lowrance X71 sounder. Some months down the track it started to play up and not display the depth. I sent to Lowrance for repair, paid the refurbishment fee and got it back. Due to other commitments I didn't get to use it, and when I did it still didn't work, so back it went. This has happened several times, even bought a new transducer but still no go, so I bought a furuno LS400 and threw that on the back.
The other day, Lowrance rung me and said they no longer support the X71, so sent me a X125!:D It has the speed sensor but no transducer.

Now I seem to have two options

1-Spend another $130 and get a motor mounted transducer and use this up the front with the electric bowmount

2-sell it without a transducer and recoup some costs

What would you recommend???

ring lowrance and explain to them that without a transducer the upgraded model sounder they sent you is still unusable and ask for a transducer to be supplied...

if they won't agree to this i would ask them if they would accept the sounder back and offer to pay a few more $$$ for the sounder u want (assuming you want to stay with lowrance), hopefully buying straight through them they will give u a good price as well. also explain that you love their product and want to stay with them.

Also ask if the old transducer will work with the new sounder.

Bet it was your transducer and never the unit at fault, been all over this through multiple skimmer transducers, they are junk and do not last long, the depth degrades, that is why the refurbished unit did the same thing. I got to the point of never running the new cable just cut and join.

FNQ,
It was both, I actually bought a new transducer for the X71, and it still wouldn't work. So now I have a new transducer, that does not fit the new sounder. Dam thing cost about $180 as well.

Anybody after a transducer for an X71, fits several other units as well::)

Will give them a ring, but am sure they will just give you the RRP pricing.

That transducer will work fine on the X125, except you will not have the SST function.
