Hi

I have one of these, with the pickup though the transom of my boat. It does the live bait tanks.

I want to install a deck wash, and was wondering whether I could put it on the discharge of the live bait pump. The idea is that it would suck water through the live bait pump using the live bait pump pickup. I don't want to start the live bait pump when I am doing this, just suck the water through the pump when it is off. That way I would not have to drill another hole through the transom for the deck wash pickup.

If that won't work, can I get rid of the existing bait tank pump pickup. It looks like it is sikaflexed in place, so I would somehow have to drill out the pickup. Its about 25mm diameter, and the only thing I have in that diameter would be a spade bit, which wouldn't do the job very well. Filing out the sikaflex would be pretty difficult. Any ideas how to do that.

Finally, can I somehow use the one pickup for deck wash and live bait tank. Do I need two pumps or can you do it with one pump (want automatic deck wash with pressure sensor to start and stop).

What about a bladder (50l) or similar and use fresh with a pressure pump such as those from Whitworths. Search for deckwash.

I have thru hull fittings for bait tank with one small pump and another one for salt deck wash that I have fitted a tee to so I can use salt or fresh and now I just mainly use the fresh and with the pressure switch and a longer hose I can do a brake etc washdown at the ramp too before the drive home dries it out before it gets stored.

If you go fresh only with the pressure pump you can always decide later if you want another hole in the hull for salt but i guessing you may not bother.

Anyhoo, my two bobs worth..............

Hi Whichway,
I had a similar setup in my old seafarer, where I ran a deckwash off the bait-tank pump. I just had a 1/2 " hose connection on the end in the bait-tank and then clipped on the hose when I wanted a deckwash. Of course it didn't have a pressure sensor, but I found it worked a treat.

::)

Cheers
