No, Aigutso, I think you have it wrong.

I am pretty unmotivated by all of these debates about etecs versus 4 strokes except that I notice that they always seem to be initiated by etec advocates blessed by the good Lord with a propitiously generous allocation of mankind's allowance of superheated, high grade flatulant energy.

Now, it is my humble conjecture that because of this blessing and in accordance with the Law of Entropy, or if you will, the Second Law of Thermodynamics, that it is not the etec motor itself that is powering the forward motion of their vessels but rather that the etec engine has such a very high catalytic effect on etec owners' abilities to generate such high grade flatulant energy, that it is the owners themselves who power the forward motion of their vessels.

The vessel below is clearly one such vessel powered by the catalytic effect of an etec on its owners ...

;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Perhaps, this explains the seemingly generous but nonetheless genuine claims by owners about the negligible petrol used by their motors to travel long distances.

Now thats below the belt lol ;D

Enterotoxigenic Escherichia Coli (ETEC) is a type of Escherichia coli that can cause Traveler's diarrhea. A number of pathogenic isolates are termed ETEC, but the main hallmarks of this type of bacteria are expression of one or more enterotoxins and presence of fimbriae used for attachment to host intestinal cells. Enterotoxins produced by ETEC include heat-labile (LT) enterotoxin and heat-stable (ST) enterotoxin. LT is similar to cholera toxin; it increases the level of cAMP in intestinal cells, and this causes an increase in electrolyte and water excretion (diarrhea). ST stimulates production of cGMP, also leading to increased fluid excretion and diarrhea. Because enterotoxic E. coli strains are non-invasive, they do not cause inflammation, bloody diarrhea, or systemic symptoms such as fever.

Spot on mate! All in all i think the E-tecs are a pretty good motor with some interesting ideas and it will be very interesting to follow there life spand and any issues that present over time, are they for me? Not at the moment, i guess in my opinion i just do to many trolling hours ( 150 in the last 8 weeks and that's in a slow season) But what really gets me TYPING ( eg fired up )are the Zealots that as you say have chanced apon in there opinion the equilivent of a Marine Messiah and cannot believe that the rest of the boating world hasn't followed them into utopia . I just cannot remember the last post along the lines of " CHECKOUT MY AMAZING 4-STROKE":-X

That is an exquisite piece of research, Poseidon. Well done! 8-)

I honestly don't care one way or the other re the ETEC wars. It is just all good fun - but it is game, set and match after your finding that wiki article. (Please tell me that you didn't write it and it won't be there tomorrow!)

Yes Poseidon - It has been an adventure. But there has to be a morning after ...

;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Explanation for youngsters (anyone younger than 55 ;D ), the original movie about the Poseidon, was called "The Poseidon Adventure". It was made in 1972 and the theme song contained the words, "There has to be a morning after."

Now consider yerselves culturally educated. ;D ;D ;D

Hey Shanoss I didn't know that the new etec's for 2008 came in brown. Are the white one's that are still sitting on the shelves turned that colour from being in the sun to long? Or are they just old stock?

Hey guys, I just did a google image search and it appears that this:

Is actually this 'ETEC' thing we've been searching for.

Here it is guys, it is conclusive.......

ETEC is born out of the term "Pigs AR$E" and basically it will give you the SHITS....

All jokes asside, Has any of the ETEC brigade asked there dealers what the servicing cycle is on the injectors?

The worrying thing for me is that a 4 stroke will just loose power if the injectors have a partial blockage or a toltal blockage. If an etec has an injector issue which could restrict it's flow rate it's most likely going to cause a lean condition "BANG" being the most lilely scenario if the engine is used under these conditions.

Having been through the fict debarcle, I went down the road of cleaning/testing the injectors and NO ONE had the means or the data to check the functionality of an injector.

I hope this has changed.

Of legendary reliability is what I always heard about them. :-/

Most of the dinghy rental business used to have them on the boats.

I had a seagull up untill 2001 that still worked like a charm.

I gave it to a mates dad as he was after a small motor and I hadn't used it for a while. I wish I hadn't, they are a work of art!
