OK, I had one of my blonde moments http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/10/10_5_133.gif (http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb001_ZNfox000)

Just got back from camping and I left the tinny in the drive whilst we had a brew. The tank was vented and having done a trip since filling it, I was sure that it was far from full. Unloaded some of the gear and left the tank sitting on the tinny seat which is fully carpeted. Came back out less than half an hour later and the petrol (or air) had expanded that much that petrol was being pushed out of the vent. Needless to say, it's made a fine mess of the glue that was used to hold the carpet to the seat and the nice blue carpet ain't looking too good either http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/23/23_13_11.gif (http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb001_ZNfox000)

There was also a nice puddle of petrol underneath the floor, so beware if you leave your tank in the sun http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/12/12_2_31.gif (http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb001_ZNfox000)

Well done Kev,

so hard to amit defeat, especially when it's your own fault.

Even the best of us make mistakes, that's what makes us learn.

Great post

The same thing happens to me only when i leave the vent closed and pressure builds up and i release it that it over flows.
Cheers Nick 8-)

G'day Kev, I experienced something similar with #2 however I closed the vent. It build up so much pressure in the sun the fuel was forced out of the fittings. Possibly a good idea to completely remove the tank and keep it in the shade I think.

P.S. Welcome back.:)

And thongs...
Petrol sun and thongs... The bloody thongs melt and you get black footprints all over the rig.
Carpet hides a lot of indescressions though.

Could have been worse Kev....could have not noticed the petrol on the seat...then sat on it...now that'd be a suprise!
