A friend of mine has just bought a Bayliner bowrider with an inboard Mercury motor, the problem he is having is he occasionally has to leave the boat in the water over night or even a few days after he has used it and he would like to know if it is possible to flush the motor while the boat is still in the water???? It is not possible to raise the leg out of the water to attach a set of muffs.

G'day

BM is your man on this, do you have any more specs on the engine?

IMO, If it's very occasionally, don't worry about it too much, but don't make a habit of it.

As mentioned occasionally not flushing for a few days won't really hurt it too much.

If you have been out boating then presumably the weather is good so I cannot see why he wouldn't jump in the drink and whack the muffs on, run it and then take em off????

Or don't worry at all as mentioned. There are plenty of sterndrive boats in marinas corroding away.

Cheers
