Hey.

I've got dramas with my little hand held Garmin GPS 72.

Can any one recommend a service centre for repairs? (Brisbane Metro)

Thanks in advance.

Dan.

Dan,
G.M.E. are the agents for the Gamin. You can find them in the phone book. They are on the southside of Brisbane. They don't actually fix yours. They do an exchange for a "factory re-manufactured" one. The cost is somewhere between $100 and $200. My gps 76 wouldn't find sattelites for ages. The morning I was going to take it to GME I gave it one more chance and it found the sattelites and hasn't stopped since.
Cheers,
Bill

Amasing.
In the GME site the suggested retail is US$129
https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?pID=214

And then when you an Australian search on them you get Johnny Appleseed's price of AU$260
http://www.ja-gps.com.au/gpsprod_gps72.html
And when you do a shopbot you get prices from AU$209
http://www.shopbot.com.au/p-15084.html

Big price difference even with the dollar difference and GST added.

Anyways...what's the problem??
Cheers Scott :)

PS. I really have to agree with Simmo...GME service isn't worth a pinch of pelican poo IMO.

Well I'll be. Pelican poo might be worth a small fortune ::)

Actually it isn't pelican poo. It's pelican guano.
I learnt that at Uni...it took a few years but I learnt something useful.

My apologies to Dantren for getting off his topic :-[

this thread is turning to shite.

I have a little corrosion on the male power contacts on the back of the unit. I've undone all the screws(The 4 year apprenticeship cam in handy!) but cannot get inside the bloody thing!!!!

It won't run on 12VDC or AA's. If I could just get inside the unit, I'm sure a touch of corrosion would be the fault.

Any one had similar dramas?

Dan.

With a gps 60 C yes. Exactly the same.
After GME bull, I sent it to Garmin directly, they said it was a software issue and replaced the unit.
OUT of warranty.
