Looking for opinions on re-powering my boat that has a max. 150 H.P rating as it serves both family skiing and long distance offshore fishing duties, outfit has a 150lt underfloor tank and i do overnighters off 1770. 4stroke or E-Tec 2 stroke? Looking for guidance!!!!

Hi mate iam new at boating but i just ordered a new boat and i went for the yamaha i learnt that the etec is still unproven and is starting to have a few issues. The yamaha has got the best name for getting you there and back every time. Put it this way would you buy a car made in the usa or would you buy one made in japan iknow what i would buy. Regards mark

Pup, check with Allison for the maximum transom weight recommended and make your decision based on that. Can't go wrong with either DI 2 smoke or the 4 banger.

pup if the yamaha 4 stroke is to heavy for it they make the vmax 175hp this is a di motor and that is the way i went on mine just to get that extra punch down low.
