Hi guys,
I have just purchased a 1980 model 175 johnson, which is in need of a little work.
Here are some questions,
- It is very hard to start. But when it starts, it seems to be missing quite a bit. I have tried all the different fast idle settings and so on.
- Where is the idle screw on these motors?
- It has an electric fuel pump(which is new) which i thought was odd. It goes on with the ignition. Will this flood it at all? Should I get the stock fuel pump from the wreckers?
- The sparks plugs are flat!! Ive never seen these before, but what are they? I am used to car spark plugs. I would like to change the plugs but do not know what type?
- Is it common for outboards to lose their battery charging ability? Where is the alternator on them? Do they output 13V like cars? or?
- The carbies are synced. But how do I go about telling what the correct float levels are?
I know these are a lot of questions, so I appreciate any help in advance.
Thanks Guys.
