Hi,

I have a 19c and in my opinion the 140 would be minimum. You could get away with it if you arnt going to carry big loads. But I think you would be better off with a 175. They are a heavy boat.

BMT weight you will be pushing 2 tonne

Hi

I have a 19C, repowered it early last year with a 200 Opti, previous to that the boat had a 175 2stroke Johnson.

Agree with Aaron and Greg, 140 would not be enough, 175 does it well, 200 flies.

With the 175 I was doing about 45km/hr @ 4000 rpm, with the 200 I do about 55km/hr, a bit less fully loaded.

These boats go better with more rather than less HP.

Cheers

we had a 19C when i lived in cairns, bloody heavy boat! we put a 3L 225 merc on it when they first came out and it was awesome! comfortably spin a 19-21" prop...so yea if its a 19C you get your going to want more like 175 min. but 200+ would be nice...

Both boats are very stern heavy and need a lot of power to get them up on the plane. I have a 200hp EFI Merc on the back of my 565L. Running a 19" Quicksilver Laser 11 prop the GPS has shown 87km/hr at 5,300rpm. WOT is 5,800rpm but at those revs I'm too focussed on hangin' on and therefore not taking any notice of speed.

Many 565L's were originally sold with 135 and 150hp outboards and as most of purchased pre 1989 we're talking about horsepower at the flywheel, not at the prop. Since 1989 hp is measured at the prop and outboards are rated accordingly. The gain is about 10%. With a 150hp outboard 565L's perform quite well. They don't seem to take too much longer (than mine for example) to get out of the hole and top speed is still in the region of 70 - 75km/hr.

Take note however that the V19R and V19C are both much heavier than the 565L. Also a 2-stroke will outperform a 4-stroke in terms of getting out of the hole. If you're intending to pull skiers that may become an issue.
