Can anyone recomend a place to get a vhf licence? Ideally near central brisbane.

Gooday on-one

When I did mine after getting back to Oz in 2004, I bought the manual from the Maritime college in Tasmania. Studied that (probably 60 pages from memory) then arranged to sit the exam via Arthur at Moreton Bay Trailer Boat Club (MBTBC).

All too easy as I didn't have dedicated time to go for the structured tuition

Not from experience, but from reading - DEFINATELY OK to use in an emergency.
