Well guys hopefully some first hand experience with importing stuff from fishon ,site sponsor will help you decide one way or another .I have been trying to decide wether to buy a V.H.F radio for my boat and had heard lots of good reports about the icom m304 so i got some prices and found them to be around $350 in most outlets that sell them so i got on to pat at fishon for a price . I also have been hunting for a cmap planner and blank card to save some g.p.s marks so i ordered both items from fishon total cost including postage $419 landed at my door ,it costs almost that for the planner with 2mb blank card . I ordered at 4.30 p.m thursday27 /12/07 and it arrived at my door in one piece todayat 2.30 pm 2/01 /08 i personally think this is great service and priceing not even 6days from order confirmation ,thanks FISHON great service mate with that sort of service you should sell plenty thanks for reading this guys ,i hope it helps to reasure some .....matt

About to order some goodies from Pat myself, but having had experince in buying overseas, Australian companies could really learn a few lessons about customer service in my opinion.
If I can have items shipped from 3000 k's away in 4 days, why does it take 4 WEEKS in some instances for deliveries from Aussie suppliers?
Cheers,
Dave

I just bought a VHF from them as well but obviously due to the associated problems with importing a long aerial it's better to buy that from the boat shop locally.

Hi Guys,
Thanks for all of the kind words!
As for shipping antennae overseas, none of the carriers will do it for an even remotely reasonable price so it is best to source your antenna there in Oz.

Just spoken to shop in toowoomba, gent said that it is not LAW to have a license to operate a VHF radio at sea.
Is this correct ?
ps; read some of the ACMA.gov site, they reckon one should have a MROVCP certificate.

Snapp ,I got the icom 422.
the icom 304 that bluefin got is a bit cheaper and still looks OK.
Mine was around $280 landed and I think it was about $550 if I had bought locally.......It blows me away how anyone can justify those figures.
