Hi Guys,

I have just upgraded from a tinnie to a fibreglass halfcab and was wondering is ti essential to have something between the outboard and the transom. If so what is the most commonly used material for this. At the moment there is nothign there but I have noticed that most people do have something between the outboard and the transom.

i see a lot of boats with a sheet of thick plastic at the back cut to match the outboard bracket. i asked about this and i think its mainly to stop the gelcoat getting bust up.

i have polished stainless steel on mine on both sides, cut to size. ill take a pic and post it later.

mind you i noticed on some cruise crafts i was looking at upgrading to that they have nothing there. strange considering the make. so i dont think its totally nessesary but personally i would have something there.
