I am about to update my tow vehicle as my 1999 Challanger has 240000 Ks on the clock. Does any one have a 2.5L Diesel Kia Sorento & use it to tow a boat of around 1600Kg ??

I will admit to knowing noghting about the Kia. I will add my 2c for what it's worth though......have you looked at the SsanyYong? I know they used to have the Mercedes Benz Diesel fitted to these and for my money, if I were to buy a Korean 4x4 I'd be going with the SY because of this fact. As I said though, puerly personal opinion

reel action I think you need to check your figures as a hilux will tow 2250kg and a prado will tow 2500kg the landcrusier will be more again.

Hi Pete, I own a 2005 sorento 3.5 petrol and towed a searay 20ft 2200kg with no trouble at all. the new sorento max is 2800kg, mine is 2300kg. So towing 1600kg should be easy. steve.

The diesel sorento has been voted top caravan tower in the UK for ages. Value car with grunt. Lots of diesels are now hitting the Oz market that have been available globally for years.

I'll be one the rare santa fe you actually se towing something.

As DAtamile has stated, The Sorento has been cleaning up all of the tow rigs in its category near enough to globally. Who woulda thought a "pretty city car" would outdo the big guys. My uncle has recently bought a turbo diesel sorento and a caravan and headed off as a grey nomad about 4 weeks ago. Be very unlike him to buy anything but a patrol or cruiser and we were shocked to see a nice shiny city car pull in the driveway with a caravan on the back. He did his research.

Jack.

I have just purchased a new KIA Sorento Turbo Deisel and a Whittley 630 crusier, I brought the KIA specifically for its towing capacity and a car that my wife could drive during the week. The car/trailer is fitted with a sensa brake unit. We towed the boat back from Brisbane, some 600km, I would have to say that the KIA was great, I am suprised at its capability and needed some convincing from the dealer, it does the job, no problems at all.
