Hi Ausfishers,

I've had a few Pm's lately about how I secure my esky from sliding around in the boat whilst underway so I thought I would put a post to show interested people. I had the local fibreglasser make up some corner locater bracket to suit the 160L Tropical esky for all four corners. These were then secured to the floor by sikaflex and a self tapping screw. These work excellent and prevent the esky from moving at all. Before them I used to tie down my Downunder 130L with rope. I only ever done this twice as both times to the reef the esky's base cracked and punched the feet through the bottom.

Cheers

Those brackets will hold your esky in place without any dramas for sure. How will you get on if you either do not want the esky along one day or change esky sizes?

I have velcro glued under my esky and wherever i place it on the carpeted floor it stays put until i rip it up and move it.

Jack.

I don't plan on changing esky size in my boat as I use it for storage and seating. If your fishing out wide and punching into slop no amount of velcro will stop a larger size esky from sliding around if it lives near the bow. As for fishing when you don't use the esky you learn to walk around them. Since I have a glass floor in the Hooker everything loves to slide around.
