I did my first tow on sunday.
Went over to tanga, then back to scarb reef. Started to blow up so thought time to give it away.
Come around front of woody pt and i saw this lady waving to me.
It was pretty choppy.
Thought it was my lucky day;D
But they had broken down and were paddling.
4.2m 40hp and going nowhere.
As i said it was fairly lumpy.
I ended up towing them back to ramp at pel pk.
Felt good to be able to help someone.

Damn fine effort Seahorse.
Sounds like they were very lucky you were in their vicinity at that time.
Cheers!

good work - did the same myself on sunday on botany bay, so know the feeling.

Bloke waving madly - went over and he had broken down in a small runabout and was taking water. Said about 20 other boats had gone past. Towed him back to his ramp and he wanted in closer as he had no oars. Said it was his first time out in a "new" old 2nd hand runabout. No motor test, no safety equipment, possibly no brains....

hope the karma comes around as cpt stabin says

SeaHorse, Good Job.
I was at Parsley Bay a few months back around 7:30 Sunday morning and very busy. About 100m off the ramp I passed 4 blokes in a glass 1/2 cab looking exhausted and paddling - theyd been at it for some time. I offered a tow the remainder of the short distance to the ramp which they gratefully accepted - I swear they must have been passed by 10 other boats while I was putting mine in.
Then a few weeks back im having a few issues with my motor. I stopped dead about 60 or so meters from the Woy Woy ramp in a strong wind. So here I am struggling to paddle in my 4.6m tinnie single handed. I notice 1 boat no more than 100m away observing me for around 15 mins while I worked up a sweat.>:(

For god sake people, if someone looks like they are struggling then offer them a hand. If they tell you to nick off then take it on the chin - at least youve done the right thing. Most likely they'll give a big thank you and do the same for someone else when theyre out next.

Mate I've got the same boat i couldnt even think what it was like to paddle the beast especially in any kind of wind. i hope you got help from someone.

I've towed a 16" glass boat with the old mans 12" tinnie before i think the bloke was too relieved to be embarrased.:P one thing was certain he was more than grateful for the assistance

Yeah nice work mate good to know some people will give you a hand when you most need it. A V sheet displayed by some of the craft mentioned earlier may have got a bit more attention by the passers by though. Ben
