I suspect it's just a bit dull. Once you're past macleay it gets a bit too rough for a houseboat so if you had one in the brisbane river you'd have to keep it there which would be a bit boring after a while

hmmm.... well i guess what you see on the Brisbane River will certainly be different to the broadwater. but not sure if one would be more boring than the other? I think both rivers have points of interests and fishing for sure. I just thought there might some law or restrictions on houseboats. I guess not too many places for a rental company either.

G'day

I don;t know about boring, as such I believe he's talking about a hire service.

Why?? I'm not sure.... go and get a few million together and start a fleet up?

Maybe because things like slipping could be an issue, and there are better locations within an hour or so, like noosa and the gold coast.

It would maybe work in the upper reaches, too much traffic in other parts.
Rental houseboats are typically low powered and maneuverability can be difficult. Imagine one of these in a fast flowing river downstream of Bretts Wharf with the shipping movements in that section of the river? Or, between Bretts and the Uni with Rivercats, Cross River Ferries, charter boats, etc.
A recipe for an accident IMO.

Yes i can understand that a houseboat which can only do about 8knots mixed with large ships won't mix too well.

but for the rest of the river there are no ships that go down that far i don't think? I think ships only come down as far as Hamilton?

The ferry boats shouldn't be an issue as such as they are powerful and fast to maneuver around anything. although some people suggest ferry cat boat operators are a bit like bus drivers so yeh could be an issue.
