Team,

When you wire for auto power (comes on with motor) do these units also turn off with the motor? Or do you have to manually turn off? Just thinking, if you pull up at a spot and turn the motor off, do you lose your sounder? Thanks in advance,

Whitty

I had a 4500 & 5500 setup, it had to be manually powerred off. Yours would be the same ;-)

I remember this because I had to climb back into the boat to turn off the units after starting the outboard to flush it!

Thanks TonyM, so you still had sonar function when the motor was off?? I want to be able to use sonar while stopped, but still have engine hour counter and fuel flow enabled when going.

Hi Whitty,

That's correct. If wired up as per the instructions the unit will come on when you start the motor but will keep running when you turn the key off.

You can also start it the conventional way by pressing the power button without turning the ignition on.

Cheers
Tony
