HI All
Im about to build my first rod, a heavy surf rod. My question is; should I sand the blank lightly to create a smooth surface before binding, or should i leave it untouched? I'm using an unsanded blank and C grade thread.
Cheers
Owen
should be fine without sanding..

What blank are you using? I would expect a newie to be pretty smooth...

I think Rockfisho is talking about the same finish that's on a lot of the Snyderglas blanks. That ridgy sort of finish not rough like sandpaper.
Have fun Rockfisho ;D

mate i would not worry about sanding the blank before binding just make sure ya dont bind it under too much pressure as gaps will appear due to the ridgy finish
