Hi all,Does anyone know if anybody has converted a caribbean cruisader 23
from a inboard to an outboard on a pod.I need to repower my boat and thought it may be an option if it preforms well.::)

Doable but it won't be as good riding due to the raised centre of gravity.

Why not replace the V8 thats in it? or is the whole lot stuffed?

Thanks BM , yes the whole motor and outdrive is an OMC which is old and seized.Electric shift outdrive. What if the pod follows the hull lines extending out 600mm.

Hi Aquaman

IMO the biggest problem with converting to an outboard is weight is to high up on outboards compared to the sterndrive. Its not a problem for boats designed for an outboard but the 235 Crusader has a deep V and is a bit rolly to start with. I sold my crusader about 6 months ago. I took the old mercruiser out and replaced it with a 5lt fuel injected volvo duo prop. The stern drive bolts straight into the original transom that the old alfa 1 came out of. The 270 hp volvo was an awsome engine in that hull.
A freind of mine had a crusader that they put a pod on and he said it was very rolly after that. I'm not sure what he is comparing it to though. All the crusaders roll around a bit.

Cheers

Thanks to all for the advice on repowering my cruisader from stern to outboard ,I decided to stay with the stern drive ,mainly for cost and weight issues.
cheers .
