Fellas have a garmin 340c sounder,been out the reefs and no idear what the screen was telling me bar the depth,hence been fishing depths and not good ground for the last 6mths. Info frm fishos from ausfish,went to town and purchased a dvd Rick Huckstepp Understand Your Depthsounder, and book called Depthsounder Secrets. After a few hours of viewing and reading my understanding of what the sounder screen is telling me has improved 10 fold. There is info on dial setting,gain,resourlotion and other important info. So anyone new to using sounders, my advice go purchase these very usefull tools. A BIG thank you to the ausfish fellas who sent me in the right direction. Polky.
