Both are great boats, but my choice would be the Seafarer Vamp.. They are built tough like brick shyte house, and the quality and finish of the Seafarer is superior....

I haven't been in one but i passed a haines prowler 520 cc going out to the reef in your typical North queensland chop. I was in a 5m quintrex top ender and we blew straight past em. They were getting absolutly drenched, very wet boat!!
They had three average size blokes onboard don't know how much gear, but the boat kicked up alot of spray every time it ploughed into a wave.

I have a 540 cc Cyclone 115 merc 4stroke having had theboat for a while the positives and negatives are,
Positives :
very dry hull, good ride (19 deg deadrise i think) no hard slaps or bangs.
great fuel eco.
no timber, no rot.
very stab at rest, ie bottom bouncing at the reef.
enough height at the sides you can lean against the sides just above the knees (which is more then i can say with the hookers, goodwins or other cc i have seen.)
Cyclone is well know for its high level of finish to every part of the boat.
very fast boat, great as a ski boat when not fishing

Negatives
very unstable when on the plane, sensitive to un balanced loads, shifting loads etc.
large centre console takes up alot of room
hard too fully clean the boat due to the rear scuppers being slightly higher then the floor (self draining floor)
Along with the above comment i put bungs in the rear scuppers to stop water coming back through them when at rest rear of the boat sits a little too low (prob due to the weight of the big merc)
Due to the sharp deadrise going all the way to the transome, you have to pay attention when travelling with a following sea!!!
Could do with more storage, not too bad though.

Vamp all the way:D

I am slightly biased however as I own one........ Nice strong boat, hull very similar to the VSea (which has had great reviews for many years). can be a little wet at times, but seriously show me a 5m CC on a rough day that doesn't get wet.

If you want more detailed info on the + and - of the boat, feel free to send a PM

Sorry for doubting you mate but i find it hard to believe that a 5 metre quintrex would do that to a 520 fibreglass haines.
Something wrong about the situation you have described.

I would say that both boats are good, but personally I would put a Sea Farer above a Hanes Hunter any day of the week. Sea Farers are a far superior boat in construction and design.

Troy,
What can i say i know it sounds strange on paper but it is the truth, we started by following the haines hoping to get a smooth ride out, but it was going so slow we decided to pull out and go on our own, the quinnie we were in has a millenium hull and a 100fourstroke yam. i think the haines had a 115 on it and they got soaked to the bone, where we only got occasional spray.

So believe me or not i don't care, but on that day i know i was glad to be in the quinne and not the haines.
