Talking to a mate who bought a 115 Merc 2 stroke. last 2 outings the fuel line sheered off from the carby. Rig is new and dealers scratching their heads. Anyone had same problem. cheers mojo
Fuel line off the carby, or the fuel pump pulse line off the block?
Have seen a pulse line repeatedly blown off the block but a fuel line coming off would have to be mechanical interference I would think. Although that itself is unlikely, unless a linkage is skewif.

Thanks for the reply BM He told me the line to the carby sprayed fuel everywhere. I have always been impressed with later model mercs so was surprised with this problem. He has written a 5 pge letter to merc.(not happy). I have a 1982 johno and will be looking to upgrade shortly any tips on a good motor hull rates to 75hp. mojo
They are all pretty good these days mate. Biggest piece of advice I could give you is "watch the weight"...
There are many older boats being repowered with very unsatisfactory results and it boils down to the added weight of the modern engines. I feel sorry for these people coz many dealers only care about the sale and the boat performs like a dog, or takes on too much water in the splashwell etc etc
Let your mate know that there have been issues with the fuel pump pulse line being blown off its fitting on the engine block.
Its quite conceivable that if his has the same problem but the line isn't blowing off the block then it could be over pressurising the fuel pump and hence over pressurising the fuel rail.
Hard to really diagnose without looking at it.
