New Reel Any Suggestions?

I want to get a new light reel currently i have a Shimano JHX 4000
Somethign around that size would be good.
I want to buy something that i know will last me another 10 years
i do work my reels very hard as i live on the water and i do fish every
second or third afternoon. My price range is around $250-$300 max.
My Shimano still works but it is just a tad bit stiff and it only has
about 3-4 months left. My garage is full of reels but there all to big.
I hope you guys can make a suggestion

What ate you chasing and what line class? Would you downgrade to a 2500 size reel?

Any of the shimano / daiwa gear in that price range will be great quality, head down the store and have a play with it.

2500 looks great i will go and have a play i just wanted to hear some peoples views on reliability of reels.

The only reel that I feel will go the distance is a Daiwa Certate ..... But you are looking at $$$ more ....... A 2500 out of Japan will set you back $350 atm .... $520 locally ..... Nagg

I currently have a light shakespeare ugly stick rod I will be using mostly poppers and the occasional bait/SP fishing

sol 2500. I dont own 1 but i have 3 in the 2000 and 1 in the 3000 sizes. Great drag systems and strong. Super smooth reel and is just in your price range.

My Penn Spinfishers have been worked hard for up to 25 years with minimal maintenance and still work well. I would not plan on the current crop of multiple bearing reels going the distance so I personally would buy well within your budget and if needed replace in a few years. A Shimano Stradic 4000 can be picked up at a great price at the moment and would do OK. A bit of TLC and maintenance can go a long way to extending a reels life.

im with HORSE!! go the stradic 2500 or 4000, top reels around the $210-$230 price or wait for the sales and you'll pick one up just under the $200 mark!!

Shimano Spheros range is also worth considering if you need something bulletproof.

Dont go the penn captiva. My new one failed on me, first decent fish on it too. Go Stradic for $150 new on ebay, or the sol.

Being a shimano man, I agree with horse and jayvee. I bought a stradic a few years back to cast slugs for mackerel and for their price you can't go wrong.
