Want to match a reel to my new rod. It's a Berkley Dropshot IM6 7'2" 2-4kg.
Will use it for bream whiting and flathead using soft plastics. Would spool it with 2kg fireline and would want it to last and cast long for 3 years. A spare spool would be handy but not necessary.
Budget under $50 or up to $100, but then I would have to steal the wifes purse.
What do you all sugest.

You would at least want a 100 dollar reel. At the least. That's bottom end. See if you can pick up a Daiwa capricorn off ebay. the 2500's are better than the stradics in my opinion and you can pick one up for maybe $120-130. The stradics are around at 169.

Ok, thanks, looks like I'm going to have to get the wife in a headlock then.

Check out a Penn Applause 2000. Great little reel for the price. Should be around the $100.00 mark or less

Cheers

Okuma Epix EFS20 or 30. You will definitely not be disappointed.

I agree with Tunaticer. I fish an Okuma Epix EFS 20 with 4 or 6lb braid on a 3-5 kg 6'8'' Rackraider.

Great reel with none of the problems sometimes associated with Okuma gear such as the gears coming apart or the insides corroding.

I picked mine up on e-bay from one of the Malaysian adverts. Cost me $83 delivered.
