trying to be a responsible newby boatie. joined Vicky point vmr but have a question...

it doesn't tell me on the website what channel to log on with (vhf) or what numbers to contact them on via mobile if I need assistance?

I launched from redland bay last sunday and saw no sign to advise what channel to log onto - can anyone help?

VMR Victoria Point monitor VHF channels 16,67 & 81. 81 would be the channel to use for logging-on.
Their phone no is 32078717.

If you're using a mobile in an emergency and can't get thru on 000 try 112.

Gelsec,

VMR vicky point will send you some stuff in the mail, it will have your registration number (secret squirrel No) some stickers, membership details and a few other bits and pieces.

I see they let you use their hoses, but I didn't see anyone do it....

Do they and on any day ?... what with redlands boat washing restrictions etc

thanks for the reply's all.
seems I jumped the gun slightly.

Data - I understand there is a tap there which you can bring your own hose and fitting - until it becomes too well known and the council removes it.

shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!

Mik.
Pinched this off this site a while back and modified it. My acknowledgement to them who ever it was.

Channels with your VHF.

The main chat channels around the bay are 21, 81, 73.
VHF 21 and 81 have repeaters. 21 for good for outside the bay and 81 for inside.
VHF Ch 16 for Emergencies, the backup is 67.
City Cat, Water Taxi, Party Boat, VHF Ch16.
The Harbourmaster etc contacted on CH 12/13 Port Operations
Water Police can be contacted on Ch 63
Rescue helicopter overhead that has come to your aid on CH6.
Shipping over 300 Gross registered tonnes may or may not be listening out on VHF Ch 16.

By rights you are supposed to do the radio licence course to use a VHF set. The VMR may run it; I did mine through the Redcliffe Coast Guard.

Hi mik01,

I recently did the course with lloyd, and highly recommend it. Lloyd is a very good teacher who teach's the 1 day course in a very relaxed manner. I can not speak highly enough about him & the course he runs. My licence actually arrived in the mail today.
