Hi fellow ausfishers,

I've had the occasional request to put a few shots of the new Galeforce on here.

It is a 4.8m side console, with a polished deck
90hp E-tec
55lb Minnkota Riptide w autopilot
deckwash
rod locker in port side gunwale
Raymarine A65 chartplotter with sounder
live bait tank in the stern, live fish well under the front casting deck
extended rear cast deck.

Thats a nice looking boat mate! Have you put it on a weigh-bridge yet? I'm interested in how much it weighs compared to its equivelent in a platey.

Rob,
Nice looking rig.

My Dad's boat back in Mirriwinni is called Halcyon, although it is a much older Haines, still a nice comfy ride to the reef for a day spearfishing though.

cheers, Evan

Mate,
A very tidy rig. I too would be keen to know her weight.
Would be ideal up here for the rivers.

Evan,

That's a coincidence - I spent my high school years in Babinda.

Pickd the name - Halcyon - as it is supposed to go along with tranquility etc. It also loves carving through the chop.

As for the weight - I'd estimate her weight to be just over 700kgs, although could be as much as 850kg. We have a braked trailer because of this, but I know of a few out there who do not bother with the brakes on a trailer for the 4.8 Galeforce

sweet ride i bet. i like these boats and they seem fairly cheap for the amount of boat you get. I think i saw one advertised for $25K with a 60 etec.
is the extra grunt of the 90 necessary? or would you get away with the base motor?

cheers Roo.

Rob,
Yeah mate, I went to school with you there are used to kick your ass in volleyball.

I think Halcyon is the name of a mythical bird that is said to only nest on a calm sea, or something similar. Thus the term "Halcyon days" - calm days.

Anyway that's what I've been told.

cheers, Evan

Ahh - Evan 'crooked' Kruckow.

You are correct about the bird reference. In fact it is said that the Halcyon Birds would "create" the calm sea in order to nest. Some kingfishers have halcyon as part of their scientific name.

As for the volleyball - you're dreaming mate. Any time you still want to step up to the beach court - I'll take you apart
