Hi all, I have just purchased a new Stacer 519 easyrider with new 115 Mercury 4 stroke and am expecting delivery within the next weeks or so. ;D
Can aynone give feed back on this setup, I have heard a lot of people say to give the boat a good pre delivery inspection ... any particular areas to focus on? Has anyone had any problems with Stacer and their quality?
Also these New mercury 4 strokes, anything to watch out for with them? I intend on doing a bit of skiing but mainly fishing and offshore cruising.
Am curious to learn if there is anything to watch out for, when researching what to buy we only heard of the good points not any problems that have occured.
Cheers

If you wanted skiing you should have gone 2stroke or optimax or etec.

A 5m boat with a 115 four stroke will ski fine its not as if it's underpowered

Hi Timmy, yeah did consider going 2stroke but we will be doing more cruising / trolling than skiing so the quietness and reliability of 4 stroke out wieghed it and we are only novice skiers anyhow so power isn't a big issue.
as Stuie has commented ... not as if it's under powered

Hi Wags, Thanks for the links ... looks like youv'e had a bit of a rough time with your cabin leaking and paint oxidisation, how's the paint debate going any joy with stacer warranty?
I too have gone for the black paint, our dealer did reassure us at time of order that the paint is covered under warranty.
Whats the rest of the finish on your boat like?
Cheers

Hi there Hookin, I've got a 525 easyrider with a evinrude 115 di good all rounder pull tubes and knee boards with ease and tops out at 80 kph on good water.fishs 4 adults with comfort . Don't like the driving position on choppy water or for docking so I lifted the seating up. had some problems with 2 cracked welds were fixed up no worries at Northside marine, great service even though that is not where I bought it as I bought it 2nd hand 3 months old. Any other questions just ask:)

Hi guys, got a 525 easyrider with a evinrude 115 di too.. where do I need to check for cracks etc ?
Find the screen level annoying.. just at eye level for me. End up standing most of the time.

Mine were at the transom to hull joinon the chine each side of keel.I put a longer seat post in so I am above the screen and can be on my feet in an instant, bit cold on the face in winter without the clears on though.

Does anyone know if the sitting position is the same in the 519 as the 525, and are telescopic or gas lift seat posts available?

Hookin,
Issues with the Stacer warranty manager are from from joyous. There was a clear problem with the paintwork and it had to take a letter of complaint to the Office of Fair Trading/Consumer Affairs to get Telwater to do anything about it. This IMHO shouldn't have gone this far. What I've found out is the boats are fully painted then the holes are drilled for the fitting of the extras. These holes haven't been prepped with duralac. I'd be keeping an eye on these spots as oxidisation will happen and as your dealer has assured you the paintwork is covered under warranty - oxidisation isn't.>:(
All that aside, I think the 115 4st is enough power for your craft and I hope you have a lot of fun in it.

The seating is the same and I looked at both types of seat poles but went for one piece pole as to get the hight I wanted the adjustable ones wouldnot allow me to put seat back down to origanal position if wanted.I can swap from one post to another in about 60 sec, although next mod is to put seats on storage boxs . Also I removed rear seat and replaced with two 70 litre eskys with padded tops ,another thing is if you have the ski pole/ bait board combo if it is the same as the 2004 version ,the bait board bit needs to be modifid to stop it bouncing all over the place in rough water,I set mine up so it does not encroach into the deck space any longer but can still be removed in about 1 min to use ski pole.

One more thing , is check the motor wieght against the allowable on the transom, as I had a sales" professional " try to sell me 115 4s that was 50 kg over the max alowed wieght. a honda I think.

Thanks for the great info Easyrider,
No weight dramas on putting the 4 stroke on, we were careful and checked it out before ordering, the newer 519 has a slightly higher transom weight rating at 200kg and the new Mercury 115 4 strokes weigh in at 181 kg.
