Hi Team.

What are the key criteria for spinning lures and throwing unweighted baits form boat - using a smallish overhead with between 50lb braid (10lb mono diameter equivalent)? Chasng pelagics, fish in 30m water

Some specs to consider...
taper
max length
tip/mid/butt section
number of guides
weight of rod itself?

Recommended brands would also be nice.

How much would you like to spend, Splash?
Cheapish, something by Uglystik or LiveFibre maybe, expensive, custom or maybe something by Loomis or Egrell.
Price difference of several hundred $$$!
I'd be looking for 7-8', fast taper, Fuji components, correctly set up using the spine of the blank, something durable as life aboard can be tough!
For that reason I personally wouldn't spend a fortune, I find it too easy to damage a rod on those occasions when the action is hot on-board!
Cheers and enjoy, you should get heaps of knowledgable replies to your enquiry.

Yer they are a great rod. Some folks enjoy the extra length, others prefer it shorter. Depends on what sort of boat you are fishing from i guess as well.
