Can someone tell me the difference between VMR and the Coastguard. Who do I log into if my local VMR (eg Raby Bay) is closed on weekdays? Cheers.

They are two different organisations doing basically the same job. There will be somebody manning the radios all the time but during the week the crew to do the rescues etc will have to be called in to do the job. I believe that VMR even though it is monitoring the radios during the week they will only respond to rescue calls and not usually logging on / logging off.

Coastguard I believe are manned 24/7.

Jack.

You could try logging on and off with the Seaway Tower which is manned by both VMR and Coast Guard on a rotation bases. Or maybe even VKQ 447 i think it is from Manly?
