Hi,

Anyone got any idea how far 75 merc 2 stroke will go on 120 litres fuel? haven't tested fuel economy yet!

That would depend on a lot of variables such as hull make or type, revs that you cruise on, condition of seas, weight, trim etc etc.
Some more info would be needed to have a rough guess

Being a merc it depends on how long it runs before it stops ;D id get around 180 out of the 75 etec....sandgate to mud and back around 19 lts

What hull is it on? What type and pitch of prop? Loading in boat? Weather and sea conditions? How hard you drive? Condition of motor? All these things will make a difference to fuel economy.

i got 75merc with 105 litre tank. i fill up before every trip even if it only takes $10.
Biggest trip i did was clontarf, mud, sandhills, tangalooma back to clontarf and used about 3/4 tank. i had about 2 litres oil in res and stated to beep just out from ramp. this was only a warning but still had 1/2 at least in there. going on that prob used about 75 litres. i dont muck around, i give it a bit of stick.
i run mine on a 489 stacer runabout.
hope that helps
cheers

pushing a 5.3 meter stacer with a 17 inch ? vengence prop and 3 adults full fuel load of 120L it does 35 knots flat out - wound back to cruise range I'm guessing about 140km+?

Hoping to do some fishing and cruising soon

I'd get a plastic fuel tank with a measured amount - say 5 litres and see how far it goes, then just do the sums.

Otherwise, fill it, goes for a run, measure the distance on the GPS assuming you have one, then fil it up again, and do the sums again.

But having said that, what speed, conditions etc would have to put variables of possibly 40% to the maths

I have a 90 3cyl yam and got 150km from 80L last fill just mucking about (yours is as or more thirsty than mine, it's a big dispacement 75 hp that merc), I suspect you have near 5 hours at 40-45km/h - thats a long way! but do anything else but cruise and the economy will dive:(

cheers fnq

Scrub what I wrote if yours is DI.
