Hello team,

Soft plastics are becoming lure of choice for a lot of lake lure fisherman at the moment and those taken on the plastics are reaping the rewards with double figure scores from lakes like Arthurs.

However you must fish them real tight into the trees and with the a full day's fishing accounting for quite a few lures lost.

TT jig heads are a bit exy if you buy them by the packet at the tackle shop.

Anyone doing bulk supplies or cheaper copies?

I make them seeing I have 2 or 3 molds in the smaller sizes (up to 1/5oz) :)
Work out cheap as chips especially seeing I can't use them so don't loose many.

TT's have the Head hunter series which makes them cheap or you can get Supa pack in Tournament series..

Tah guys,

I should mention that I'm talking about trout fishing in Tassie if you didn't know.

I'll have to look for the supa packs - how much cheaper?

I'm not really in the position to melt my own lead at the moment (townhouse) so might have to wait on that one..

To put it in perspective: wobblers, spinner, celta fisherman maybe 5-6 fish a day; soft plastics 10-20 fish a day.

I think it's all about keeping then in the strike zone which many of the "old time lures" just didn't have.

I made a set of dies to "crimp" onto jighooks and fitted them to a pair of vice grips. I can now put split shot onto the hook shank and crimp my jigheads tight either in lead or zinc or alloy. Currently i only have one size but intend to make another size for larger hooks. Necessity is the mother they say.

Jack.
