New to Oz boating, but stuck on the decision to either spend 15K on 4.4 runabout with 40hp, or to splash 28K on a bluefin bowrider.

No sure how much I'd get the boat out, but def want to get around morton bay, and out to straddie with the family.

What is a little runabout capable of safely ? Or I do I invest bigtime and not worry about the bank loan sitting on my lawn for 99% of the year.

Or do I splash on an older boat to get the better engine size

If the family is conserned definately the 5+m boat, lots more options, more chance of you choosing the day to play not the weather - of coarse within reason.

When we first started looking for a boat we had a budget of $18 000 but ended up going the extra and getting the bluefin bowrider.

We wouldnt have used a smaller boat as much and I think we would have been ready for an upgrade another year or two down the track. The bowrider suits our family needs and having a bowrider makes it feel larger than all being crammed in the same space.

yeah go for the 535 bow rider, it has a great motor with only 105 hours still good for alot of years + you have got alot more size compared to the 4.4 runabout, if it picks up rouph in the bay at least your family will be alot safer, good luck with what ever you get.;D

Now I know why I see so many bluefin bowriders around bayside ramps.. Looks like everyone buys them.
