I am looking at repowering my cruisecraft seametre with a new engine . It currently has a mercruiser 470 in it. Does anybody know the weight of these motors including the leg as i would like to have some idea of how it compares to what is currently on the market.

Thanks Aaron,

Seameter, if repowering a V6 with Alpha1 drive will be what you need.

The 135hp 4 cylinder won't be worth looking at as its a cast iron 135 and not an alloy 170.

Or you could look at the 135 if you consider your current rig more than amply powered and less performance is acceptable to you.

How do you assess your present performance?

Cheers

Thanks for the responses
much appreciated.
The reason i am considering getting rid of the 470 is that i have found myself doing a lot more trips outside than i used to and reliability is now a much more of a factor. My current engine is in need of a rebuild but i am not sure if it is worth rebuilding it.

I'm not sure if Merc still do precision rebuilds on 470's (I will have to check) but in any case rebuild kits are a viable option if the block is still ok.

They have a habit of corroding out the surface at the top of the block. If the block is still ok then it is worth rebuilding.

They a the best engine that Merc had. Powerful and lightweight.
