G'day guys,
Have a 4.1 metre Polycraft and I'm looking to put marine carpet on the front and rear casting platforms. However, one of the best things about a poly (and worse things I guess) is that nothing wants to stick to it.
Can anyone recommend, or had any experience, with a good glue for the job? Or am I just better off using something like a flexible fastner?
Thanks in advance.

A mate i fished with a few times used those bath mats with the suction caps underneath them as his floor lining he could pull them up when he got home and hose out whisper clean. It's not carpet i know but it was a good system.

Clark Rubber have non slip stuff that my cook put under the rugs on our polished floors to stop them sliding.
It is like a foam webbing.

Hey Murph when I bought my 4.1 poly it just had carpet mats cut to fit and held in place with press studs, it was ok but the mat had to be lifted to open the hatches. When I fitted it out I replaced the poly hatch covers with carpeted ply. Tim

I have a 4.1 and when I was going to put carpet on the frony and rear casting decks I rang Polycraft for advice. I was told to simply use a liquid contact adhesive like Selleys or Fuller. Been there for 12 months now and doesn't look like moving.

lenthals_barra, if you are going to replace the poly hatch covers with ply you'll have to cut spacers to lift the ply to the level of the deck, I'll post some pics if you like. Also think about an infill for the well it will give you a bit more room on the back casting deck. Tim

Hi Murph77
I have a 4.1 open boat poly with a 40 e-tec -- have lift out carpet on the floor but decided not to carpet front hatches -- mainly because i do a bit of mud crabbing and the carpet would get too dirty and a bit hard to clean with the water restrictions.
Having said that if you want to carpet the front hatches use a heat gun (hair dryer might do) on the surface until it gets a shiny appearance then clean with wax and grease remover ( get it from super cheap) - then use your contact adhesive and you should not have any problems.

Mate,
Have a look at www.polyboatowners.com (http://www.polyboatowners.com) Several members here are also members there. It is a friendly site, and all poly.
Cheers

Thanks for all of the advice guys. I'll weigh up the options and give it a go. I pretty much only lure fish so there is not too many dramas with it getting too dirty. Slick looking rig by the way robb0. Cheers guys.
