Hi guys this is my "idiot" question for the month!!!!

I have the standard adjustable outboard support bracket - the one that clips into the trailer (centre rib) and the two forks the fits either side of the outboard leg somewhere near the cavitation plate. Standard bracket thats available at all retail outlets.

My problem is that the bolt that is used for adjustment is stripped and can not lock onto the main section of the bracket.

My question ?????

Is the angle that the bracket is set at is to accommodate the ground clearance required during travel or in fact does it distribute the weight/load of the outboard across the boat's transom. :-/

Either way I do not have the purchase receipt for a replacemet (its not old) and was thinking - Do I need to replace the bracket or (as I am thinking) can I find an angle that is suitable and weld the muther?????

Any advice appreciated
Cheers
Pete

its main function is to stop the transon being ripped off as the trailer goes over bumps
I just made my own out of 1/2" stainless rod.
Did the 'that looks about right' measurement and gave it the chop

if ya dont want to spend the bucks on a newie, weld her up mate. they are just to put some releif on the transom.
better to have one than not.
if ya trailer accomodates it that is.

cheers

if you dont have a welder just drill a 8-10mm hole through it, and put a nut&bolt through it.

Is it the bolt stripped or the welded in nut??
If the nut just tap it out to the next bigger size and start again with a new bolt :)
If it's the bolt just get another bolt :)
Failing that....here welder :D
