I seam to be using a fair bit more the you do. Why did you have it checked at the 35 hour mark?
Any other e-tec owners of larger outboards use much of the oil? it would be good to know.

Thats about twice what my 175 uses. Get the oil calibration checked.

Re: 2 Stroke Oils-Are they really different?
Hi Have just heard that BRP has imported 200 liter drums of xd100. Put some pressure on your local Evinrude dealer to get one and get them to refil your existing 1 gallon drums. They should be able to sell it to you for about $50- $55 a us gallon and still make money. Very good oil with loads of anti carbon and a full synthetic designed for marine use now at an OK price.

Also if you are comparing oil consumption with an ETEC make sure you also add the boat ,weight and revs you usually run at or % time trolling. The ECU in a ETEC has an oil fuel map that changes dependant on how much load the motor is under. Varies the oil mix at different revs / load.
Would like to see the figures as the XD100 on my calcs works out at about a max of 20 cents additional per litre of the fuel cost.
I had a check done on mine as peace of mind thing, they put her on the pc and i have a printout of things, it was at the time they had a recall on some little dohicky..so seeing it was there .....im going to get one done soon either 12 mths or 100 hours...drop the leg and do an oil change....and a once over......but one thing is for sure, my 75 uses bugger all oil

The other weekend i used 45L of fuel and i only needed to 250ml of XD100 topup happy so far. If you motor is using too much your motor might be programed for normal stroke oil.

Reel Cruisey,
you might have had the same problem as I was having with the 200 I borrowed. No way in the world was it getting anywhere near 100:1 oil consumption on XD100. The owner never told me if had a problem as it was due for a service when I gave it back to him.

I have just bought a new Haines Hunter 580 Breeze with a 150 ETEC on it. Have just gone through 4 litres of xd 100 with three full tanks (160lt). Still costs $80 for 4 litres up here on the Sunshine Coast. Is it much cheaper elsewhere ????

Don't you just hate getting ripped, I know I do, I got a price on xd50 at $68 for 1 gallon, 3.8L I think.
What are the rules regarding airfreight from the US on oils - anyone done it? gotta be as low as half the price landed I suspect, but dunno.
Do the dealers understand they are doing damage to E-tec sales and in effect future XD sales by gouging!
Really if was to consider a e-tec I couldn't due to the inflated oil cost, isn't a 100%+ markup enough these days.

i would have thought the freight would kill it unless buying in container loads , a 2kg electronics package costs 80 bucks one way .

Yeah that's right Mark, weight costs but volume doesn't with air forgot that, been a while since I surface freighted anything possibly volume not weight is what matters with this mode. Might do some checking I simply will not pay the $68 for xd50 but would like to use it.

Marco, that second link is a beaut! are you interested in 50 or 100? The 50 by your second link is 36Lb and 143.94AUD for a 6 gallon case, might be do-able for around $40-45 per gallon landed, the Yam dealer up here sell yamalube 2st for $42 4L.
Will look further.
An ausfish 55gal drum bulk buy of 50 or 100, for Brisbane ausfisher's:) possibly around $40 per gal landed.
cheers fnq
