Hi all. I have just got a little 3.5punt for fishing dams creeks etc. It has a little 05 4hp merc 2 stroke on it and it goes ok but was wondering if there is any way to get a bit more out of it, jets, prop etc.

Before anyone says "buy a bigger motor you tight ass" i will be getting an 8hp 4stroke which is its max rating but unfortunatly money dont grow on trees and its illegal to rob banks.

im just looking for a stop gap solution till i get the new outboard.

cheers all

Gday

I dare say, if it's tuned well...... is at the right height then thats all she'll do.

It is only 4hp afterall.

With regards to the upgrade, why are you going for a 4stroke?

Cammo,

You could try increasing the ignition timing (max advance) and running very high octane fuel.

Will give you a bit more but not for long before it goes BANG!!

bit the bullet and bought the four stroke.

4 strokes are just my preference blackened, they troll better, quieter and better for the waterways. nothing worse than leaving a oil slick in a beautiful creek or dam.

thanks fore the info

Prhaps too late now, but running it on XD50 will give you a smidge more and heaps less smoke, and pollution.
