Charter boats in SEQ

Can anyone suggest a good fishing charter boat operating out of Brisbane or the GC. I have been out on a two in the last few years (no names, as I don’t want to can a charter for what might have been a one off), and while we caught fish I found the experiences a little disappointing.
On one charter I ended up helping out as the deckie was too busy paying attention to the ladies. On the other charter, each time we hit fish the skipper would jump in and fish as well. I don’t know about you but when I pay for a charter the skipper should drive the boat and the deckie should do his job.
There will be approximately 7 to 10 of us heading out. So if you have had a good charter experience recently let me know. This is my first post here, so I hope the next one will be a report on a great day fishing out on a charter boat.:)

I went on BK's Fishing Charters today. Was a blast. caught a heap of tailor, and a couple of big fishies between us. Here's my catch :

I've been on "reel Easy" charters a couple of times. They have two boats, both are 44' Noosa Sharkcats, one with fly bridge one without. We fished the reefs and bought home a good haul of parrot and red empor. they also target big stuff to, It was a grat time and when I was out the skipper drove the boat and the deckie did his job, they were great.. Tom Cat out of Raby Bay, been out twice with no complaints. Skipper drives and does his best to put you onto fish, deckie doesnt stop all day. Good to see you realise that charters arent a sure thing as far as getting fish in the boat but its the effort that goes in I think that wins back repeat customers, good luck with your charter and welcome to Ausfish:D

we caught some nice kingies and a mixed bag of snaps,trag , pearlies mac tuna ,with gavin from sea probe last monday good day was had by all hope this helps matt ...

Basic rule
no.1 dont go on charter out of the goldy!!! No matter how hard the crew work the fishery is terrible

no.2 try and get a boat that does a charter in to the evening, fishing the transitions ( day/ night) improves your chances of a better catch.


for the above 2 reasons i like some of the noosa boats as there a little further from brisbane and the reefs out of noosa dont get hit as hard as other areas. But if commited to the brisbane area , tomcat does have a good rep for those numbers. If there was only 3 or 4 of you i would recomend a guy like John Gooding here in brisbane or Rob Smith ( Smithy on ausfish) he will run a charter any where from rainbow beach to the goldy!!( Robs site http://www.sqcs.com.au/ )

John Gooding is a top bloke and top fisher, tho 4 POB is his limit, Smithy would be similar. After them I'd go with John Palermo on "Nitro Charters" out of Manly Harbour, he'll accommodate your numbers.

totally offshore fishing aust out of scarborough vessel name is shakara and its a custom built plesier game fish boat about 36ft in length the skipper wont dissapoint you with a nice catch cheers cr

Have found Tom Cat to be at the top of their game.
And they always have fresh bait, which cant be said of some others..
