hhmmm my motors are just run in, a pair of 115 Fichts with 2,130 hours, one has about 60 more than the other, i use that one a lot more for Trolling in a certain wind when I do not use both.

Great thread, and I have a 115 Merc 4 stroke EFI with only 30 hours since 09/06, pretty sad really isn't when it isn't being used. We are about to double that figure soon.

I reckon I'd be lucky to do 30hrs a year actual running time. Of course it's cheap on fuel at that rate.;D

Nah Daz don't do that!:o

That's the trap those mad keen fisho southerners who come up during the winter trade wind season, just don't get to fish.

I have around 20h up, bugger all fish caught, A bloke I know who bought a reef boat around the same time as ours hit the water has only 7h up - shocker.

Soon the water will flatten :) dang sun/heat will be the problem then, roast reef fisho!:-[

hi dan,

did the engine with 4700 have any problems? was it serviced yearly or hourly. good to see figures like that. im guessing these donks(guessing 140 suzukis) wouldnt even need to be flushed being used on a daily basis like that. good stuff

cheers

60 hp Yamaha 2 stroke, 2001 model, we bought it two years ago with 50 hours.
Now on 250 hours that is 200 hours in two years, the boat is shared so gets double usage.
A beautiful smooth, quiet, under-stressed motor that will troll at dead-slow for hours.
We tested a 50hp four stroke Mariner, horrible, screaming, high-reving and gutless.

Here, i thought that i was using mine a fair bit. Wait till i show the other half some of these figures. Fellas i think we can now justify more fishing. Very interesting reading.

Thanks

Hey fish gut's you were on the money with the manufacturer but it was a 70hp 4strk.In 4700hrs i replaced gearbox seal's twice including the top bearing's ,two trim solenoid's,the reg/rectifier and the binnacle well part's of it anyway.I serviced the engine every 50-80 hrs my self and yes i flushed it as often as i could i used to tow it behind a mothership. The other engine's were yammie 50hp 4strk's the carby one's.My mate also run's them on his pro macky dinghy's he had one(suzi 70) do 5000+hrs and still working fine when upgraded.Dan......

I have a 40hp,1997 Carbie Evinrude, Anyone got an Idea how i tell how many hours it has done as I am the third owner? Is there any computer thingy that a mechanic can plug into that will show how many hours the motor has done on the 2 stoke Carbies?

Cheers Chris

I have a 2004 Yamaha 100hp 4 stroke, with only 170 hours.
So 3.5 years = approx 60 hours per year, not much.

How many hours are these good for at this rate.

Cheers Ryan.

Daz

I see Daz.... if the water will not flatten of it's own accord you will tool up to flatten it yourself!:)

Reel magic sounds like corrosion will get it before it wears out, one would hope at least 15 years, any of the very early 50 odd hp 4st yamaha's still in service?

What is the rec average per year? thought it was somewhere less than 50h but not sure.

We've just replaced our 87 model 40hp Evenrude with a new 40hp 2stroke yammy...no idea how many hours we had on the old one (not enough though) and have just clocked 11 hours in 2 months on the Yammy. Looking forward to not having to run the extra oil in the mix now that we are over the 10 hour mark.

Some of you guys have got some impressive hours up per year!!

I have a 100hp Yamaha 4 stroke '01 model. She's got 875 hrs on the clock, and runs like a dream never had one sniff of a drama. Definately would'nt upgrade to a new one. My mechanic reckons i'll get 3 grand out of her!!!
