I have just bought a new boat and want to know if any of you guys can confirm whether my car will tow it. Its a BMW 325I 6 cylinder 2004 Sedan.

The boat weighs 1.2 tonne and is braked.

Any comments would be appreciated.

Manual and auto both rated the same:

720kg no brakes

1600kg braked

Hey now there no reason for that sort of talk. Geeeeeess ::)
We have 2 beemers. 1 bike and an M-tec 3 series.

Guess what though...the beemer used to sit out the front and the Kingswood got the shed until I built a carport and retired the Kingswood to the country house. ;D

Sorry James I couldn't resist.

Yes I would tow with it as it is well within the tow limits for the vehicle.

As with any braked trailer however, I would ensure that the brakes are kept in very good condition.

Thats the shot Finga. Have you got a price from BMW to put the tow bar on the back... Bloody hell!!!! Seeking other alternatives.

P.S Once you buy a tosser Beemer you will not go back to Aussie made cars there is no comparison.

Roger that

Mate the beemer is the cooks car and there was no way in hell I could get the mig out to put a towbar on the back if I wanted to eat in the last 5 years.
I looked and looked but in the end the Kingswood did all the towing.
Besides that I don't know if the oxy could cut a hole in the fiberglass at the back of the beemer to bung the tongue through.:)
Now that the Kingswood is at the holiday home all wrapped up in it's shed Wally the wonder wagon does the towing.
As for not having an aussie car...you've picked the wrong bloke.
I have a HZ wagon, WB 1 tonner, HX 1 tonner and working on another HQ.
Here's a picture of the last HQ I did up for a mate...A real car, not one of those buzz boxes ;D
PS the beemer still isn't in the shed...the tinny is now ::)

Around a 92 model deisel 4x4 single cab. The BMT should weigh in at around 1900kg. I dont know much about the Hilux 4x4 utes but thats about what I can afford to spend at present.

Stuart,

1900kg sounds too heavy to me.

Hilux 4x4 utes have a high centre of gravity which makes it less desireable again.

RedBook spec's say max of 1500kg braked.
