Hi,

Can anyone give me a insight into either of the boats. I am looking at the 445 Northener in the Horizon and the 435 escape in the seay jay. The boat will be used for estuary and inshore reef fishing off Caloundra and Rainbow. All feedback appreciated.

Thanks

A mates got a northerner, and Im very keen on em too. I like the wide hull, lots of room. I dont know anything about seajay. If your in this price range, Id look at Fisher boat too.

Earlier this year i ordered a 435 northerner with a few change's to standard they were happy to make the change's no worrie's.So the order went in and i was told 8 week wait,ok no worrie's 8 week's later and no boat i got the dealer to chase up what was going on and he got back to me and told me another 8/9 week wait so i said stuff that and cancelled the order and drove around the corner to another dealer and bought a bluefin warrior 4.5 and i'm glad i did it is a much better built boat with alot more room than the horizon even saying that the horizon is still a good boat just lacking the extra bracing and material thickness of the bluefin.Compared to the sea jay i'd have to say that the horizon was a better built boat but this is only based from what i saw in the local boat yard's here which is pretty limited maybe only 8 or 10 differnt hull's of each and the horizon was promised to me at a very good price compared to the sea jay.Dan............

dont like horizon boats at all went out in a 4.2m horizon boat and the ride was terrible, handling was rubbish and was quite wet and we were only out t the pin on a reasonably nice day. Have heard plenty of good things about sea jay boats so I would definately be going for the sea jay.

Thanks Dan. I encountered the same problem with the Horizon they told me 12 to 20 weeks so I bought a Blue Fin 4.25 mangrove Jack. Pick it up tomorro it looks like a much better built boat.

As a member of the Horizon Boats family, i feel the need to reply to this chat. We do not hide that our current production lead times have blown out. And yes production time are around 14-16 weeks at the moment, and we are working on ways to bring these lead times down as fast as we can.

Through out this year we have been overwhelmed by the amount of new boat orders and all the successful boat shows we have had thanks to our dealer network. This has been made harder by the lack of skilled labour, and we stand by in saying that we do not want to risk quality for quantity which im sure you will understand.

Horizon has gone through a huge growth periord over the past 5 years and we are continuining to expand, with plans in place to increase our current factory early next year.

In light of all this, it is a credit to the new model range and our skilled team of guys that have made our boats so sort after.

Regards

I have a Sea Jay and I wouldn't swap it for anything. My family have had Sea Jays since i can remember. Really well put together boats. Can't speak for the horizons.

My old man has an escape for estuary fishing and crabbing and it rides and drives really good.
