So many post regarding Stocks-Trips-No Fish-Limits-etc
Though this may sort a few of your inquiring posts, and the reasons no-0ne can ever find out the 100% truth.

there are an average of 785,000 fishers in Qld ages between 5yrs and older, who make 4.6million trips per year.

This is Telephone survery of 13.390 fishers in 2004.
1. Those who fished in the last 12 mtns
2. Only 2,733 agreed to full interviews.
3. Of which only 1385 returned the survey.

81% were males/averge age 41yrs
78% fished once per month
averge 23.5 days per year in GBR area
20.5 days in non-GBr areas.
31% said (i would rather go fishing than do anything else)
74% Are moderately or very satisfied with their results
78% said relaxation was the reason they fish
15% said (To catch a trophy fish)
80% Eat the fish they catch
78% (A fishing trip can be successful even if no fish are caught)
71% Agreeing with the statement (I release some of the fish i catch)
88% said (Rec fishing regs are necessary to protect fish populations)
76% agreed limiting rec catches today will help secure fishing in the future.
89% rated (Overfishing by Commerical fishers as a threat)
86% rated loss and destruction of fish habitas was also a cause.
84% rated pollution as danger also.
Neither (Over fishing by Recs) nor (Closing areas to fish) were seen as a major threat.
97% agreed (Releasing fish below a certrain length would help)
89% A limit on the number of fish you can catch would help
86% No fishing during spawning would help.
59% limit the types of gear than can be used.
61% limit the locations some types of gear can be used
61% (Catch and Release) only in selected areas.
81% aware of the (Prohibitions on sale of caught fish)
48% received info about recreational fishing in qld from television
43% received info from newspapers and articles
41% received info from tackle and bait stores
2-6% gained info fromf the Fisheries Website
25% GBr only attended public meetings
7% non-gbr areas attended public meetings

thanks for that Webby.

it tells me that they could only be bothered surveying 1.7% of the fishing population out of which 20% agreed & then only half actually did it.

all up we got a response from .176% of the fishos in QLD . pretty comprehensive that.

so this basically says that fisher'people' couldn't be stuffed with paperwork & dealing with those f**kin telephone surveys. there's fish to be caught. LOL

Thanks for that bit of info,what it tells me i'm not sure maybe as a community we dont care to answer to surveys maybe we should answer a few so at least we get the chance to express an opinon instead of she'll be right attitude some one else will do it ......matt

Some interesting figures there Webby did you get them from the board you sit on ?

Anymore developments on the bag size changes you mentioned a while back :)
